WAR MUSEUM VIETNAM

This is the war museum in Saigon, a sad place. These are the shells that didn't explode, they were taken by the viet-kongs back to the tunnels and there, it was taken apart and useful parts were used to make bombs.

A big bomb that didn't explode.

Some of the tanks used in the war, solid and heavy
tanks. You have to really see it to know what its all about.

Trip to Vietnam --1

More on this Ben Thanh market. This market seems to be open the whole day.
The first time we went in ,

it was around 3pm, it was hot, stuffy and so many people around, you'll wonder what the people are doing at this time of the day!
This section, you'll find all the dried sea food, many different types of dried
prawns, dried fish, can abalone, shark fin. pickle fish in jars, in wooden barrels
salted fish of all sizes. The smell in the heat can really drive you nuts!!
So if you're not buying its best to move on!
This section is the fresh market. Here you'll find crabs, fresh prawns, fish still swimming. people cleaning fish, people buying their daily needs.
Here you can also see ladies dressed up with high heels, LV handbags,
stepping gingerly on wet floors. moving gracefully around the buckets and pails of fish, prawns and what that's for sale.

Trip to Vietnam--2

This is the Ben Thanh market, our hotel is just beside this market and we went in to look a couple of times. There are heaps of fresh fruits, clothings, handbags, food stalls you name it, you'll find it.

we spend so much time looking at clothings and handbags, we never had the time to try the food stalls!! what a shame! We did try the cheekoo, which was sweet and nice, the dragon fruit, rambutans, not nice, sour and not much meat.

Before leaving for Vietnam we had Malaysian durians at my brother's house.
D24 a very nice creamy and rich fruit, that is what durian is all about!

Arriving in Vietnam , about 9.30am we had to find a place for breakfast. what other meal than to have "pho" in Siagon!!
A bit disappointed, not one of the waitress or waiter could speak English!
we wanted hot water to add to our coffee , with all the signs and trying our best to say what we want, nothing turn out right, it took 1/2 hr. for some one to figure out what we wanted.
But, they still got our orders wrong!
The soup was not as good as the ones we have in Springvale! the beef was tough! and it was very expensive!
After the whole out come, we had a very good laugh, so much so we all had belly ache!! This shop was highly recommeded "Pho Hoa", but surely not by us!!
