COOKING ON THE GOLD COAST















Perfect eggs for breakfast. 10 mins eggs!
















A leg of pork, ready to roast for 4hrs.
The leg is sitting on carrots, cerlery and onions.
















After roasting for 4hrs, this is Jamie O's recipe seen on TV.
The recipe says 6 hrs, but we did it in 4hrs, must try it once for 6 hrs, then the meat will really fall off the bone.
It was a very good roast, the 6 of us could not finish it for dinner, we had it for lunch the next day.
















This dessert is the work of David F. Its the ubi kayu kuih sreved with ice cream.

THE MACADAMIA NUTS OF AUSTRALIA












HOME MADE PAPER BRICKS DRYING BY THE FIRE PLACE.












THE BUDS OF THE MACADAMIA NUTS. THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF BUDS ON THE MACADAMIA TREE NOW IN AUGUST.












TWO BASKETS OF THE MACADAMIA NUTS, CRACKING AND EATING THEM BY THE WARM FIRE IS A REAL FUN TREAT. THE MACADAMIA NUTS AFTER REMOVING THE HUSK, YOU STILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE HARD SHELL BEFORE YOU CAN EAT THE NICE SWEET FLESH INSIDE. THEY HAVE A SPECIAL NUT CRACKER FOR THE MACADAMIA NUTS, THE SHELL IS SO HARD THE USUAL NUT CRACKER WILL NOT CRACK THEM OPEN.












THE PAPER BRICK MAKER. THE PAPER IS TORN INTO PIECES AND SOAKED TILL ITS SOFT AND MUSHY, THEN ITS PUT INTO THE MAKER AND ALL THE WATER IS PRESSED OUT AND LEFT TO DRY, IT IS A GOOD WAY TO USE UP OLD NEWS PAPER AND SAVE ON CHOPPING UP WOOD.













THE MACADAMIA NUTS BEFORE REMOVING THE HUSK.THESE ARE PICKED UP FROM THE GROUND. SOME OF THEM ARE CRACKED, SOME WILL CRACK AFTER DRYING TIN THE SUN OR YOU CAN BASH IT UP WITH A HAMMER. IN SIDE YOU'LL FIND A SHINNY HARD NUT.



The vegie patch at the back where we can get fresh salad.
When this pix was taken , the weeds are still seen in the front. I weeded them later.
